Ford Mustang SSP

Ford Mustang SSP - lightweight version of a police car based on Ford Mustang 1982-1993 year. The machine is designed for police departments, instead of the heavier sedans at the time. SSP stands for Special Service Package (package of special purpose). Body Mustang Foxbody altered for use in law enforcement.

The car could be used in various police departments, and adapted specifically for them. It sold 15,000 Ford Mustang SSP. Many are still on the move and are in private collections.

History

In 1982 the police department California Highway Patrol ordered Ford Motor Company to develop a compact and lightweight vehicle, which was to supplement the existing fleet of Ford Fairmont and LTD / Crown Victoria and solve problems with speeds in the chase for the Chevrolet Camaro. In the base model of the car went to Ford Mustang 5.0, which is finalized for the purposes of law enforcement and called Ford Mustang SSP.
